This therapy can be traced back over 4,500 years to the time of the pharaohs. There is a mural on the wall of a tomb for an Egyptian physician depicting the practice of Reflexology. It seems to have grown up independently in nearly all the major cultures across the globe.

Reflexology treats the whole person and not just the symptoms of disease. It helps to induce a state of homeostasis (balance). The body has an innate knowledge of where imbalance lies and what is necessary to correct it. An example of this is if blood pressure is low it will encourage it to rise and if it is high it will help to lower it.

Reflexology is a catalyst to the body’s own healing mechanism. It is known to relieve a wide range of both acute and chronic conditions and is suitable for all ages. This does not just apply to physical conditions but also emotional well-being. Clients can find relief from stress, depression, grief and loss of control.

Reflexology is deeply relaxing; special thumb and finger techniques are used to stimulate areas called reflexes in the feet accessing specific areas of the body such as organs and limbs.

In recent years Reflexology has been introduced into many GP practices and hospitals as an effective enhancement to allopathic treatment.

Some of the many benefits of Reflexology are

Improved fertility and hormone balance

Reduced requirement for medication (under medical supervision)

Improvement of skin conditions

Improvement in digestive function

Reduction in stress levels

Clearer thinking and improved concentration

Improved posture

Improved life balance
